Reviewing Headteacher Performance
Charlton HR can support Governing Bodies with reviewing the performance of their Headteacher in line with the requirements set out in The Education (School Teachers’ Appraisal) (England) Regulations 2012, Legislation.gov.uk, which have applied to all maintained schools in England from 1 September 2012. This includes community, voluntary, foundation, community special, foundation special and maintained nursery schools.
It does not apply to Academies who are free to make their own arrangements for reviewing the performance of the Headteacher but in practice all Governing bodies will make some provision for this. How to be an outstanding Governing Body
The new Ofsted inspection process requires the Governing Body to be judged outstanding if the school is to be judged as outstanding overall. This programme diagnoses the strengths and weaknesses of a Governing body and offers practical remedies to ensure that the Governors have a clear understanding of what needs to be done to secure a judgement of outstanding.
